I have a fractured pipe in my kitchen? *CALLING ALL PLUMBERS*?
This is a lot to read, but I would deeply appreciate it if you could read it as I am quite worried.
A plumber visited me earlier and spent a good 2 hours in my flat trying to establish what caused a leak. At the end he came out with a conclusion that I had a ''fractured pipe''. He mentioned that he put a bucket underneath to stop the water and I think he switched some sort of switch off which was related to the water. Also, the water has leaked from the top flat (mine) to the flats beneath me.
Is this safe to go to sleep with? Will it some how flood in the night and ruin the kitchen? Please also give me any other helpful information you can.
Thank you so much for your time, I do appreciate it.

I assume the plumber's coming back, right? He should have told you that you would not have water as he must have turned off the water line. Check how quickly the bucket is filling up an how fast the leak is dripping.also, make sure that your insurance can cover any damage to the flat below as you are most likely liable (unless you rent the flat, at which point it might be your landlord who is liable.)
Good luck, and make sure to empty the bucket as it fills up.

The plumber will have turned your water off, probably at the mains, so you may not have any water for a day or 2. Since you have called a plumber you have done all that's reasonable, but you probably are liable for any damage to the flat below so I hope your insurance covers this. Phone the plumber and ask HIM these questions now, even if it's late, it's not worth losing sleep over.
