How do I deal with nerve and artery compression in neck? Spondylosis?

I have had left neck, shoulder, clavicle and arm pain with some numbness in the outer part of my hand, dizziness and loss of balance when moving neck in certain ways. I have been through corticosteroid injections (which plays havoc with diabetes), physio - they will only give you 6 sessions in my hospital. I have been diagnosed with cervical spondylosis with 6 of the vertabrae involved, and arthritis in my neck.

The MRI scan was done in one position only, not turned. The specialist says it is not bad enough to operate on. How bad does it have to be? I have problems with various painkillers, causing breathing and heart rate diffs. Also vomiting and extreme exhaustion with codeine, and paracetamol does not touch it. Am currently on tramadol but this too causes nausea and vomitting and I cannot function.

Pacing the flat and vomiting at just after midnight because of the pain in my view is pretty bad! So, any ideas to manage the pain would be welcome! EXCEPT hypnotherapy and acupuncture! Cannot do these because of religious beliefs. DESPARATE and having thoughts of suicide!

Some have found relief via chiropractic and massage. You might see if your doctor will consider an anti-inflammatory which might not affect you the same way as the pain medications. A tens unit might be of benefit, so you can talk with your doc about that, too. Perhaps an ice therapy program would help with inflammation and pain. You could try a yoga or a stretching regimen and see if that provides any respite. Meditation has brought relief to some, and a pain management program with biofeedback has also helped many. Good Luck to you!

These so called pain killers are not even going to relive anything you need to get to the actual problem if they done a M.R.I. Scan then they take over 2,000 photos in 3-seconds & they need a Good Spine specialist to look at them but finding the best spine specialist is your biggest problem the facts: Until you have had a proper Hospital referral, all you’re Doctor & even the Hospital, unless you are an in-patient, will only give you Low dose painkillers! Before they decide to treat the real problem,!!! The fact is you have 2-Main Nerves in your body that pass through the inside of your spine, along with tendon tissues & Disks, which hold the spinal column bones together.

They need to be movable & are Like Silicone Implants, which they put into Females Bust’s to make them look bigger.

However, these can without any Large movement move or split slightly, which can trap a nerve & create so many problems that only people such myself (read my Profile) understand how important the spine is to Every Single Thing in your Body more than we realise, I will explain in a simple way what goes through your spine.

Imagine you hit your finger with a hammer; this sends a message through one of your main Spinal Nerves that signal your brain to shout ouch!

This is how the human body functions in every way, and how important your spine is! For instance, your Lumber region has 5-disks; I unfortunately crushed the lot, not my fault! See my own profile to understand, because no ordinary X-Ray can show what problems arise, Every Day I use a Double Heavy Duty T.E.N.S. Machine to interrupt some of these signals along with 9 other tablets & Capsules.

There are only a few places able to perform this X-Ray method, or have the equipment to do so & the proper Professors or Specialist's, that are capable of dealing with Spinal Damage & the Spinal Column please take a look at: https://www.google.uk/ Type in: “Human spine”

This shows how sensitive the Spine is, it’s hard to see what is wrong & understand.

However like everything else time's move on but the fact's are in our world of hurry, creates more strain on our spines, but we do not understand until something goes wrong & then it's A very specialist Subject & hard to find the right place & people who know enough to help.

I sometimes recommend a Registered Chiropractic IE: www.gcc-uk.org Check the UK Statutory Register of GCC Regulated Chiropractors, who can sometimes help or an Osteopath on the N.H.S. especially when you have a trapped nerve, Although for GCC Regulated Chiropractors: you may have to pay for this, But You Cannot Buy Health.

The N.H.S. are running trials in several areas at the moment with these qualified people, as they can give massage treatment and identify, even sometimes mange to Release pinched nerves, having had such treatment prior to my accident, I know they can normally give you a good diagnoses & tell you what is wrong or even cure or help the problem this is why the N.H.S. are studying these type of treatments.

Pursue your Doctor for a referral to the nearest Orthopaedic Tests Hospital, to get the proper treatment & these include a Special X-Ray Called an MR or MI X-Ray Machines to see or M.R.I. Scan only then can they find the problem & advise the proper treatment.

Bad back problems do not show up, without these tools to show the Full Damage.

Truly, there is nothing worse than damaged Spine Pain, I know that & still live with it daily even now 34 years on, & you have my sympathy.

Whatever is damaged may be helped by Chiropractor massage, or the nerve slipped into the normal position before you develop problems, tell your Doctor about what you have seen & heard from others who suffered spinal injuries & get them to understand, that minor pain killers, Do not stop or improve the Problem / Condition.

Look how easy anyone can pinch a nerve, which creates pain or spasms caused by stress alone, an Example especially in the higher parts of the spine neck shoulders.

I sleep with a board under my mattress this helps support the spine as well.

You can try to ask for a Hyper Expansion Brace I wore one for 25 years.

I am now since 3 years ago wearing an Air bag type Expansion brace as well as everything else which once placed onto you it blows an air bag up to the shape of your spine. Best Wishes.

Source(s): Myself: whodontknowall@yahoo.com. Through Life in General in many ways, throughout many differing circles & read my own Profile, to understand much more. Plus, the fact how my own injury has given me this knowledge, I am even on film to teach Hospitals Tutoring Specialist’s on spinal injuries too, of how to recognise by leg colouring & more, In addition the added research on the internet. Take care of your feet, especially if you have diabetes. Check daily for blisters, cuts or calluses. Wear soft, loose cotton socks and padded shoes. You can use a semicircular hoop, which is available in medical supply stores, to keep bedcovers off hot or sensitive feet.
