Recent Yahoo Mail Update Affects Inbox?

In April, I believe, Yahoo did an "update" to Mail, which has resulted in my Mail Inbox not responding very well. After this "update", when I went to My Yahoo Mail, I would get to my mail screen, but Mail kept trying to Open a Message without my prompting (which is something I don't want to happen & have my Settings set so) after a bit, I would get a message saying something to affect " problem opening message". I would ignore it and simply click on Inbox which would simply show me all my Inbox messages & I would choose which to open. However, now, a month or so later, when I go to My Yahoo Mail - Mail is fully opening a most recent message without me prompting it to. I do not want this to happen (and have Settings set so) because of Spam & viruses - I don't want any new Inbox Message automatically opened. I have rechecked my Mail settings but cannot stop Mail from acting on its own Opening the first Inbox Message. Is there a solution to fixing this?

A second problem that was happening (but has seems to have gone away) was that certain emails I Opened, would not Open. When I selected that message, Mail would attempt to Open, but the message simply kept "flickering" in and out of view & would not stay fully opened, then a blank message window would open showing only the Mail toolbar. Again, this one seems to have resolved itself.

But again, any solution to preventing Yahoo Mail from automatically opening messages on its own?
