How much do you tip ?

Quick and easy question to answer:

Total order of Buffet: $22.50 (How much would you tip if the waiter/waitress is only serving drinks?

Total order of Restaurant: $26.75 (How much would you tip waiter/waitress if they are completing all services?

Total order of Carry-out: $16.75 (Do you tip? If so how much and why?)

Throw any others out there you may want to add!

Just a question out of curiosity..

here is what I do....... I look at the bill..... deduct the sales tax , deduct the bar , then give a $2 tip given the numbers you have.

Buffet style dining gets a minimum tip. 10% maybe if they are very attentive.

Sit down full service restaurant. They deserve 20% if the service is good and the food is right.

Carry out gets no tip. They aren't serving you anything they are just selling you product so this isn't a situation where you would tip. Same with drive through or fast food counter service. No tipping.

I tip a minimum of 20% at places where I eat in. Just tonight I left a 25% tip at a Mexican place close to my home. At a carry out place, I usually put a couple of bucks in the tip jar. I can afford it and servers/fast food workers are underpaid and need the money. There are enough people that undertip and I don't want to contribute to that.

No matter what your bill is at a buffet or restaurant you always tip 15%-20%, i was taught that it is only appropriate that when you go out to eat you must tip or don't go out at all. Take-out tip is not necessary but appreciated.
