Can anxiety, depression and panic attacks cause physical pain?
I deal with anxiety depression and panic attacks everyday, I'm on a antidepressant called sertaline which i started about a week or so ago, I had my bloods done about a year ago and they came back fine but I think i was lacking protein or some vitamin. I dont exactly eat alot either apart from junk food i have a lot of chocolate and i only eat chicken no other meat. I'm due to have a nother blood test soon and a ecj thing for my heart i think thats what its called, my phyciatrist checked my blood pressure also and aaid it was high, then did it again a week later and it was normal juat my pulse was abit high but she said thats due to my anxiety. Can stress, anxiety, panic attacks and depression cause you to become a hypochondriac? And can it actually give you symptons like head pains/headaches, stomach pains ect?? I'm 15 btw :) thanks

Thanks for answering my question, I'm no doctor either, so I can only tell my own experience. Depression undoubtedly causes physical pain and other responses. It causes major changes to the brain, and probably the central nervous system responsible for motor function responses throughout the body and therefore my suspicion is they are intricately linked.

i have panic attacks and anxiety too. going to a therapist really helped. we did this program where you basically do all the work yourself, and he/she just guides you through it. it's a book, and it has logs and stuff in it that you write in after you read a chapter. it has you assess when your attacks happen, and how they manifest (mine is specific to my fear of having a heart attack or passing out, so I get dizzy and have chest pains). right now i'm at the end of the program and we're trying to duplicate my 'panic symptoms' to prove that I will not die or pass out when they happen. it really helps.. but like the other person said, you have to come to the realization that the attacks or symptoms will never go away. they'll just have less of a control over your life, so when you feel that way you can say "oh, I'm having anxiety or a panic attack, that's all. nothing serious or life threatening" and you can just go about your business, rather than run home (like me) or run to an er (like most people, but I work in an er, so that doesn't help me) your stress sounds pretty serious though, so you might want to look into some meds. I hear that they really work well.

i'm not sure because i'm no doctor sadly. But i'll be honest. I have depression, and it appealed to me you asked this. Because i always wonder if my headaches and nervousness are due to the depression. to my perspective i say it totally is. I swear i can be sick to my stomach at times. and just feel sick.
