Hello. Before you start running, eat a banana or a coconut about 30 minutes prior to yor workout. This will give your body plenty of potassium to help fight muscle cramps.

Stretching is a very important routine to complete right before your run. You'll probably want to focus stretching your stomach, as that seems to be the problem at hand. Try this stretch. Spread your feet out widely so your body forms an upside down Y. Then, raise your hands up towards the sky. Now, slowly push your abs forward as you press your hands away from you. You should feel the stretch in your abs. This will help them loosen up so they won't be tight while you run.

Good luck, and keep it up! Congrats on your success!

Hey! I was in track this past year and worked on the treadmill this past winter and I know exactly what you mean.

So, there are really 2 options.

The first is you take a rest for 10 seconds and just focus on deep breathing. Most people just breathe like through their chest, and not all the way to their belly, causing pain. This is confusing to say, but breathe like deeper. I am sure when you try it you will know what I mean. Hold your breath for 5 seconds to distribute all the oxygen to the cells, and slowly let air out!

Second is to just run through it. It will go away after a certain time. And with interval work, just think you will have time to recover properly. Just think of deep breathing all the way to the belly. In through the nose, out through the mouth. And do not drink a ton of water or eat food an hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours before.

(my mom is working out, so I get some tips from her! She already lost around 15 pounds and had been on a diet and working out for 2 months!

    Hope I helped!! :)

I get that to.. it hurts like a some ma ma *****! What I do is walk it out and test to see if it still hurts when I run (so try jogging after one minute of walking) but stop if it hurts. It took mine 11 minutes to stop.. if you run every day it won't happen. But when I stop running (like during school) when I don't have time, then I run occasionally, I realize that it hurts a lot the first time. So my advice to you is to walk it out. Trust me it will hurt.. but if it keeps doing that even after walking awhile.. I would go get it checked out.
