is the old story that pitcher ryne duren once threw to the on deck batter by mistake?

    Tim McCarver once told his broadcast partner, Ralph Kiner, that he was hit by Duren when he was in the on deck circle but I don't believe that ever occurred. Just another story about the hard throwing Duren, his thick glasses and 100mph fastball that was all over the park.

    He was not only blind as a bat, he was drunk on the mound too often.
