Is the Old Testament dishonest or divine inspiration?

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

The Old Testament (ie. Agreement) was a development from religious anarchy. The New Testament is a further development which replaced the observance of religious rules and regulations by the personal relationship that a born-again Christian has with God, which effectively has no rules because the relationship is such that any sin causes a "death" (or disruption)in the relationship, and hence the need for confession and forgiveness to restore the relationship. Thus the New Testament is about living in a spiritual relationship with God (the same type of relationship that we have with each other), rather than the infantile observance of rules for living.

In a sense, New Testament Christianity is to adult relationships as the Old Testament is to infant upbringing.

To quote from the New Testament: When I was a child, I thought like a child ... but now I have put away childish things..."

God does a lot less smiting in the New Testament.

There are still some scary parts.

People wrote about their own experiences with God. These are bound to be interpreted by their own culture and human weakness.

Through out the Old and New testaments there are admonitions to listen to the still , small or gigantic voice of God. The Bible was not intended to be worshipped as if it was God.

Jesus said that his sheep hear his voice and will not heed the voice of the strange shepherd.

The Old Testament was God inspired by the creation and he spoke to us again through his prophets, but those who carried the oracles of God through the wilderness never obeyed God and were constantly punished and rebuked and then when the promised Saviour came the very same nation rejected him and consented to his death.

The Old Testament was of divine inspiration but the nation entrusted with writing the history of it were lacking in their interpretation of what God expected of them with the resultant continued disobedience that followed.

It is both, actually. It records divine inspiration, but it does so through the minds, and the cultures, of barbaric humans at the time, therefore it mirrors their imperfections in understanding. As Paul explained in later centuries, it is a "shadow" of truth, rather, a shadow of reality, in the best truth that could be inspired.

It is rare that someone considers what is plainly explained by those who followed after Jesus. Good question, neighbor.

In places it is historical fact in others it is love stories in others it is divine inspiration and instruction

Every "testament" is dishonest.

Every preacher is dishonest, because every church depends on dishonesty and gullibility to exist.

Remove their deception, they have nothing left.

The world is corrupt , the judgment of it is not.
