Bass boat.. max rpm we can run our 2002 225hp fight direct injection. We have no manuals for this motor?

Bass boat...tracker marine will not give us an snswer as that is the manufacter. evinrude said to ask the boat dealer..Errrr. We bought this boat used and dont wish to destroy it...We don't even know the prop is right. we hit 81 mph on gps with no gear and 1/4 tank of gas. dont know if motor was built up. Coast guard clocked us at 82....(calm water)..

Update:

If I got this right. We should not run the motor over 5800 rpm...ever? I can prevent this by changing the hot foot stop bolt(srcrew it out so I dont go over this.). Glad you all helped as the dealer we bought it from said we can go up yo 7000 on the tack...

Evinrude said they could not help and also said that we have to go through a boat dealer to get the right prop info. I miss having a merc.

Update 2:

Went to the link. The info wont go back to a 2002 model. reports go to 2005. Thanks for the link.

Update 3:

Forgot. The 2002 225 evinrude is on a 2002 ProCraft 210 Super pro DC. and a 10' hydo. jack plate.

Don't know why in the world Evinrude would tell you to ask the dealer as it is posted right on their website for every model they make.

Here is the link and the proof, as well as the recommended rpms range.

i got here upon Mercury tachs to regulate appreciably finding on the voltage - so examine your electric powered gadget. The rev limiter will kick in long beforehand 7000 rpm besides. by way of fact the voltage might upward push with run down batteries the tacho might regulate 4 hundred - six hundred rpm. I never depended on them. reliable success.

Recommended WOT rpm range is 4500- 5800. With a light load, your outboard should run near the upper end of this range.

    -----------

What rpm are you turning at WOT (80 mph)? What prop are you currently using? How high do you set your plate at WOT?
