Who has written Dhow plans for sale?
I spent time in Doha, Qatar a few years ago onboard a wonderful Dhow. No straight lines on it at all, and the quality of woodwork done was remarkable. I've built three small boats myself, and would like to try my hand at something interesting.. The Dhow is my first choice, but the search for anyone with written plans has been difficult at best. Does anyone know where these plans are available for sale?
I understand that is how the knowledge is passed, but surely as fabulous as they are somebody, somewhere has put them down in print. I can picture a charter business in North Carolina using Dhows called Dhown East Cruises. Have to put a dhow in play first though. It's been a tough road to get there.

Building dhows is a trade they do over there. The skill is learned by doing. 1 man builds the port side of the boat while the starboard side is being made by another dhow-builder.
If you want a real dhow, you will need 2 of these guys to build it.

You will not find plans any where the skill is passed down father to son!
So if you want to start a Dhow Businessthen ether employ ddo howuilders if you can persuade them to come to the USA or buy some already built!
Some how I think you will not find that many customers wishing to sail in one unless you also import the Nile a few Arab Dhow sailor's and some Pyramids!
They are far better in their normal surroundings!
Just like trying to bring over a venetian gondola and put it on the New York River Poled by a Brooklyn accented longshoreman! in jeans an a I heart NY tee shirt!
