Poll: What did you think of the 2013 version of The Great Gatsby?
Just was wondering what people thought about the movie overall, if you've seen it.
@ I love beans: That's exactly what I was thinking with the music...Jay-Z produced it and even though i'm a fan of rap it just does NOT fit the era. To have I think 3 of his own songs in there shows that he was sort of conceited on the production. The young and beautiful song fit well I think....but other than that the music was off. Overall I thought it was a good movie and much better than the original, but being a fan of the book always skews my view of movies whether it be classic novels like this or newer stuff like Harry Potter/Hunger Games.

The music didn't fit at all. I would have been okay with slightly modernized versions of music styles that were popular in the 20s, but I thought the music they did choose was ridiculous. The editing was....spastic. I don't know how else to describe it. There was constantly a barrage of sh*t on the screen, and it was tiring to watch. The acting wasn't great either. The CGI was overused as well. That said, I left less than an hour into the movie, so maybe it got better. But I doubt it.
Oh yeah, the Young and Beautiful song was good. I heard that one about a week ago from a friend. I liked the book too, which is part of the reason I found this movie so disappointing. I think Leonardo DiCaprio was a good choice to play Gatsby, but the rest of the movie ruined it for me.

I have to agree with Dewey
The computer generated special effects were so overwhelming I couldn't watch the characters or have any interest in the plot.
Also there are some films that should never have been 'remade' .. and the Great Gatsby is on that list.

Haven't seen it but it would have to be an improvement. I heard Robert Redford didn't even attend the screening of the old one cuz he knew what a stinkeroo it was.
