actually, there are plenty of articulate bright people who vote Dimocrat in America. About one third of our voters do so consistently. Near as I can figure it, they do so because looking out for others in the form of charity and welfare [mislabeled as caring] are more important to them than the well being of the jobs market or even their own family members who need a job.

as a great American once said -- "a job is the best form of welfare ever invented". Sadly, these people can see the human needs immediately in front of them, but can't see that their 'solution' robs the person of his/her dignity nor why there is a shortage of jobs -- that sort of complex abstract reasoning just does not compute for them.

Your not going to like my answer but, people usually go with the crowd. Also, certain areas prefer specific new stations like MS-NBC or FOX, and these news stations are (obviously) biased despite what they say. Poorer people are typically uneducated and cannot always differentiate between fact and opinion on these channels.
