Is it OK to break up with a girlfriend on account of this?
Let's say I'm in my late 30's, and I've been dating a woman for 2 years. Neither of us has ever been married. I develop a serious medical problem (heart disease), so I break up with my girlfriend on account of it. I have, in fact, totally shut her out of my life. I don't even answer her phone calls or texts anymore.

Yup. In dating, no reason at all is needed to end a relationship. Shear desire to not be with that person any longer is sufficient.

Why are you breaking up with your go because you have heart disease? How is that her fault? I think you're being really cold. Pick up that phone and call her. She obviously cares about you. Come on.

Way to stab her in the heart! You should have told her. She may still want a relationship. You should have paid her that courtesy. I don't know but you could try and tell her now. Maybe there is still a chance for you two. Good Luck.

You can break up with your girlfriend for any reason you want to. There is no "okay" way to breakup with someone so the best bet is to tell the truth and stick to your guns and make it honest and brief and not stoop to insulting or belittling them.

That's a terrible reason to break up and that's a horrid way to react. Heart condition and all she will continue to love you. I would suggest apologizing to her immediately and explain what is going on in your life.

You can break up with a girlfriend for whatever reason you want to break up with her for. Nobody can force you to stay in a relationship that you don't want.
But the reason is odd. I, personally, don't understand why it would cause you to break up with someone.

thats very wrong of you. you may want to disappear for a while and take the easy way out but you need to be straight up with her bc that is just cruel.

Of course it's ok. I mean, it seems really stupid (I guess haven't an honest conversation about your health issues and related feelings about that was out of the question huh?), but it's totally ok.

thats selfish cold and mean she loves you let her be with you. Let her remember you for the good times not that you broke her heart because you thought she could not handle it
