If you want to be a Marine, join the Marines. If you join another service first, they may not let in the Marines at all. And yes, you would have to go through Marine Boot even if you went through BCT.

To answer your question, yes you will have to do boot camp twice. This is because the Marines have the hardest boot camp and it wouldn't be right for a guy who was in the Air Force (which has the easiest) transfer into a branch with harder initial training and get to skip it, however if you were in the Marines you could go AF and skip BMT. So you can transfer from harder to easier with no training but not vice- versa. Now if you plan to enlist in the Marines then skip the guard and wait to join, if you are out of high school but can't go active duty for whatever reason then go into the Marine Reserves and transfer to active duty when you are ready. The only time you can really get away with transferring from a part time service in one branch to active duty service in another branch without as much risk and difficulty is if you enlist while attending college and doing another branch's ROTC and your contract expires before you are required to sign your commission contract in college with the other branch (which is usually the beginning of your Junior year).

If you want to join the Marines...join the Marines.
There is no guarantee the Guard will let you go to transfer when you want..nor is there any guarantee that the Marines will be taking prior service

Its is exclusive for prior service to change services in any department. The reason men and women do not do it going to the Marine Corps, is because you lose your rank. And who needs to head from an E-5 in a single department, to a E-2 in the Marine Corps ? It is a fantasy that your gonna be more respected as an officer, if your prior enlisted. The one thing that counts as an officer, is how good you do your job. If your a sad sack as an enlisted, your gonna be a tragic sack as an officer, even if your exquisite as enlisted, that does not mean you are going to make a excellent officer. They are wholly extraordinary jobs. In view that your a reservist, staying 20 years is traditionally meaningless

Just join the Marines, you will still have to go through boot camp and transferring branches can be a big hassle.

think again
no service is really accepting prior servie right now
and guardsmen are considered prior service
it is even next to impossible for an army guardsmen to go active duty army right now
2. all non marine prior service must go to boot and enlist as an E-2
