2014 Subaru Impreza WRX STI?

I know that it is due for a refresh. And I have seen the spy pictures of the car around the track and what not. But my question was that is that the STI? All the websites keep calling it the WRX and not the STI. Also it is only the sedan. Im sure that there will be an STI hatchback but will it be released early 2014 as well. Or will I need to wait even longer for that. Also will the new STI have the same 2.0 turbo as the wrx with just more power. And exactly how much power are we expecting for the new STI.

no that is the wrx, STi will always have a big spoiler, the wrx sti is the same thing as a 370z nismo, wrx is the base car and sti tunes it, also they are dropping the impreza, the wrx I suspect might have 296 horsepower since the jdm turbo legacy makes that much with the 2 liter turbo from the brz but turbocharged, the sti will always have more power than the base wrx, definetly above 320 hp. I think the sti might come a year of the wrx but nobody knows other than subaru executives

It doesn't matter whether that was the WRX or the WRX STI because they basically appear identical, maybe minor asthetic differences, but the main difference is in performance, which you can't really see from the outside, especially in a covered up test car. The WRX can refer to the STI, so its possible it was the STI. Also i dont think anyone really knows the exact release dates. As for the engine and expected power, im sure most of us "expect" more power just because thats the presumed trend for next gen anything. Don't worry, hunger is the best spice.
