TEOFILO STEVENSON vs LARRY HOLMES

At their best, 5 rounds, heavyweight division. Who wins and why?

    I do not often, in fact this may be the first time, but I disagree with Lestermo, I consider Tefelio Stevenson probably the greatest heavyweight this side of Sam Langford to never win the heavyweight title and without a doubt the greatest amateur to never turn pro. I think Stevenson would have walked through Larry's jab, forced the exchanges to become a skilled slug fest and beat Larry Holmes to a pulp. Stevenson would win at least four of the five rounds with power and aggressiveness.

    The prime Holmes wins this fight. Stevenson did not do well against skilled boxers, he had problems with some European boxers, and none of them had the jab of Holmes.

    Cuban boxers did well against young amateurs but no one thinks they would have that success against older, more mature professionals.
