What can I expect from a programming skills test at a job interview?

I am going to a job interview and I was told that I would be given a 30 min test on my programming skills. They did not say if it is a paper and pencil test or on a computer.

This is for a company that makes cost accounting/ revenue cycle software for hospitals.

I am a new grad from college and do not know what to expect when I get there. It has been about a year since I had any real programming class. Has anyone had experienced with this? Is there something I should be concentrating on? The languages that I will be working with are VB6 and .Net.

From what I've heard, programming tests given during job interviews are usually pretty easy. They're there to weed out idiots (and those who are unable to function under pressure); they do not expect you to be an uber genius hacker. So long as you remember what you've learned, and don't show up drunk or half asleep, the programming test probably will not be the difficult part.

The only exception would be for good positions in high-level companies like Google. There, they might require you to know all the tough stuff, too.

You can get paid up to 10K per year if you have a cirtifcate. They cost about $30-$100 depending on where you get it from.
