Rocking Horses <3?
I now have a grand-daughter! Hooray!
Needless to say, she's going to be getting a rocking horse as soon as she's old enough - she's already met all my horses, and cooed and giggled over them. They were enthralled.
So here's my question: If money were no object and you could have whatever rocking horse your little heart could have desired, what rocking horse would you have wanted? And what would you want as your all time favorite?
Rocking horse, Carousel horse, Horse pedal cart, whatever; what would you chose? Furred, wood, metal, plastic, fantasy or realistic, just what you like best. Links if you got 'em, please!
Exie, that 's so cool! My dad made me a rocking horse when I was little too, but all it did was rock. I loved it though - it was bright red with outlines and such done in black.
Azeri - alas, I've been old enough for quite some time! LOL - the horses keep me young. Do you have a link to your grown-up rocking horse? Sounds like a fun way to exercise.
CDog - thanks for answering. My kids had a plastic one, but the stuffed ones do look better.

When I was a kid my grandfather built a rocking Pegasus for me.
Everytime the horse would rock forwards and backwards, the wings would move up and down. (cables that relaxed and extended were hidden in the legs)
It's synthetic fur, with actual reins instead of the usual handle bars up on the neck.
It's about 4 feet tall. I'll try and find some pictures of it.
He also had an idea for a rocking horse, that when you pulled on one rein or the other the horse would paw with that leg, but that'd be pretty complicated.

Congrats. Hope she is horse-crazy!
My first rocking horse was suspended on springs and was really cool - more like riding a horse than rocking back and forth - - that was a few years ago, and I can't provide any links. Wish I still had him. He was a palomino. Funny, it just occurred to me that now I have one that I use to keep me in shape for galloping. . . now that I think of it, it's very similar. . . guess we never grow up in some ways.
I CAN provide you the link for my "current rocking horse" - - LOL!
PS I never pictured you as old enough to be a grandmother.

I know a few people who have carousel horses, they're very cool but more of a collectors item than toy. My relatives have a very nice stuffed rocking horse that has served multiple children well.
