I've been on a CPAP machine due to my sleep apnia for about a year. This doesn't mean you'll be on a CPAP machine for the same period of time. It all depends on using it nightly as prescribed. At first the CPAP machine was a real pain in the rear for me. There were several times when I would wake up during the night because of air leaks on my face mask. I ordered a face strap to help me keep my mouth closed to keep the mask from leaking air. If your mask leaks air, it's not doing its job and you'll probably experience sleep apnia's during the night and not know it. The key factor is to get a good nights sleep. I was also told by my doctor to start loosing some weight if I eventually want to get rid of the CPAP machine. I would like to ask you what type of problems you're experiencing with the CPAP? I hope some of this information helps. Also, I forgot to mention, you will get use to wearing the CPAP mask at night.

  • My husband uses one. It's a pain in the butt, and he says it's not all that comfortable, but he's adapted to it just fine.

My grandma uses one when she sleeps, but I've never asked her about her trials and tribulations with using it.
