If I took about 20 pictures a day for my whole life, how many gigabytes would it take up on a flash drive?
I take a lot of pictures. I am someone who likes to capture memorable moments or just things i think are cool. Some days, I can take 50 pictures but some days, I only take one or two. but maybe as an estimated average, lets say that I take 20 pictures a day. If I wanted to save all the pictures I take in my life of lets say 60 years on a flash drive, how much space would there need to be on it? Also, how many gigabytes are there possible to have on a flash drive? At least with the technology we have today. And how much can a flash drive with that much space be worth?
365.25 x 20 = 7305
7305 x 60 = 438300
wow, 438300 pictures 0.0 I don't know how much one picture takes up and trust me I hate math. I wouldn't have been able to do that without a calculator. Thank you anyone who is brave enough to accept the challenge I give to you although, it doesn't mean it is a challenge if its only hard for me to solve. It may be like second grade math to someone else.

I really can't tell you. It all depends on the size of the picture. Some cameras take really high resolution pictures, some...not so much. More high resolution pictures take up more storage space. I would say buy 64gb flash drive, when you run out of space on that one, buy a new one.

Okay, let's assume each picture takes up 1Megabyte on the flash drive, 438300 will be 438300 megabytes, to get the space all will take up in gigabytes, divide 438300 by 1000 and You'll need 438 gigabytes and 300 megabytes of space. A flash drive as we know now may not support that size so You need a portable external storage of 500 gigabytes but trust me you will not use up to that. LOL.
NB : 1024MB = 1GB but to be on the safer side, you should divide by 1000 because the storage will never come at that exact size.
This is fun besides.

the answer really depends on the size (in MB) of each picture and that varies mostly by the number of Megapixels you are taking your pictures in.
For example, I have a 10 Megapixel camera but I only take pictures in 3.5 Megapixels so that I can fit more pictures on my HCSD card.
As to the limits of Flash memory, I do not believe there to actually be a theoretical limit. If anything the limit is found in the way the card is formatted or on the physical limitations (more like drivers) of the hardware, meaning that the limit for regular SD cards is 2 GB but we have yet to reach the limit of HCSD.
