Now the semi finals are confirmed, what are your thoughts?

Obviously India will win the trophy with ease, but what are your thoughts on the strengths & weaknesses of the 4 teams? Do you agree with my thoughts?

South Africa: weak in the bowling should Steyn not feature, missing key batsmen in Smith & Kallis. Heavily reliant on Amla & Abraham Benjamin but they are the two best players in the world. That said, underdogs for me.

Sri Lanka: I don't quite think they have the full package, not strong enough in the bowling, and inconsistent in the batting. They do however, have two batsman and a bowler who can win a game by themselves, they can win it, but not for me.

India: The strongest batting line up in the competition one may argue, the bowling not so. The bowling is decent don't get me wrong, but they will rely on their batting to score 300 odd to compete.

England: a decent batting line up but the bowling is the trump card for England, test match quality bowlers bowling with a test match length, 34-3 after 10 is a real possibility.

I hope for an England India final. I think that would be a great game, we often forget cricket involves 2 disciplines, batting and bowling. People may expect India just to whack 320, England bowlers will think otherwise. Would be a great contest.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Here is my analysis of the teams:

India: Brutal batting line up, no other team even comes close in the batting department in my opinion. Likely to get to 300 against any team they play and scoreboard pressure will melt most teams. They haven't played against a decent bowling attack yet though so restricting them to 280 will give teams a chance. Their bowling attack is okay but they are too reliant on Jadeja's luck streak at the moment, Sri Lanka, England and South Africa all play spin well.

England: Military like batting approach, the most technically correct batting line up in the competition. Steady builders and accumulators but leave too much to do for the lower order. England's batting is based on percentages and workmanship which isn't always the best way to play a hand. Very experienced bowling attack who are good with the new ball, get reverse swing and have useful spin bowlers. Don't have the best death bowlers and frequently leak runs at the end.

South Africa: They rely far too heavily on Amla, Duminy and AB but have batsmen who can punish loose bowling. They have many T20 like batsman who can either take the game away from you in moments or throw away wickets in a heartbeat. They have a decent paceman in Steyn but the rest are there for the taking if the opposing team want to bat aggressively. People say they are chokers but they are ranked below Australia in ODIs, they are never one day favourites in my opinion.

Sri Lanka: Massive experience in the batting department, if Sanga, Dilshan or Mahela have a good day then it is game over. If you can get them 3 down pretty quickly then they will struggle to post a decent score. Very good bowling department but inconsistent. Kulasekara is hot one moment but cold the next. Malinga is toe crushing one moment but slinging wides the next. Herath is a good spinner though who can tie up one end and build pressure.

My prediction: England vs India final with India winning.

South Africa is unbalanced without Smith or Kallis, Steyn. Kallis & Steyn are also key wicket taker. But their batting looks better than their bowling at the moment.

Sri lanka is looking most balanced right now - Almost defended 139 against New Zealand and bowled out Australia. Batting is also strong, chasing down 293 against England in England is not easy

England - Bowling is not good. Batting is okay. But being the home team, they have the advantage.

India - Strongest batting line up out of all teams. Highest total made in the tournament. And I gotta say, strong bowling line up as well (In these conditions atleast). Almost bowled out all 3 teams they faced. India has the most chance right now at the cup right now, this coming from a Sri Lankan fan, I'm really nervous but looking forward to the semi final!

    May the best teams advance!

India seem to have a well balance, well rounded team. I like the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, they are both positive and aggressive yet bot play "proper" cricket shots. The middle order is also solid with Virat Kohli providing the backbone of the team. The twin spinner of Jadeja and Ashwin can both hold up one end in the middle overs and are also wicket taking bowlers (both are pretty good with the bat as well). Kumar can get the ball to swing early and challenge opening batsmen. Inshant Sharma is a weak link for me especially at the death.

Sri Lanka are a bit top heavy, a lot depends on Dilshan, Sangakarra and Jayawardene. But I like the look of K Perrera who is young and aggressive. I also like the fact that they are willing to change their batting order to fit the situation of the game. In Malinga they have one of the best limited over bowlers in the world, Erath is a decent spinner but their other bowling options aren't that great.

England are too conservative, Bell is hit and miss at the minute, Cook need more urgency in his batting and Trott need to be more busy at the crease (like against Sri Lanka). Root continues to impress but their is still too much pressure on Morgan, Buttler and Bopara to score 100+ in 10 or less overs. Anderson has been impressive, Broad is still inconsistent and needs to stop banging it in. Swann or Tredwell are both quality spinners.

South Africa lack depth and experience. Too much pressure on Amla and De Villiers to get them a good score. Ingram, Miller and Du Plessis can all score big runs at a good rate but are still inexperienced and inconsistent. Their bowling looks weak but Steyn coming back will give them a boost but Morkel is a big loss. They also lack a world class spinner. Without Kallis in their team they don't have the right balance.

I think England-India final and I'm hoping for a home win.

I would want India to win but I'm a bit skeptical about their chances. SL loses to India so often these days, but I think SL will pull this one out of India this time around. India has reached the SF beyond everyone's expectations. Anything else is a bonus.

I think South Africa will finally get out of their choking habits and win this tournament.

    Regards.

Any team can win the trophy. However good a side maybe, but whichever team plays better cricket on the day will be victorious. I am hoping for India's win in the finals.

Are you on weed bro ?

Sri Lanka who is amazingly consistant in every world tournament, former w.champ,4 time runnersup is inconsistant and lacks talent while England is who never played a wc semi final is `decent` and all class ,lol SL has been better than England in batting bowling and fielding since 1996.i thought your test match quality bowlers were gang r@ped only couple of days ago

seriously what made you think England can win CT ? I am just curious

India , Sri Lanka , SA are a different class and they are in another level.England reaching semis was a fluke since they are a boring below par ODI team
