They will fly when they have a purpose. For instance, they flew to Israel a couple years ago to seek forgiveness from the Jews for keeping silent during the holocaust (the Jews and old order mennonites were persecuted together for throughout europe since the religion's foundation in the 1500's). Also, in the 90's some Amish went to Russia to try and collect some old believers left in the country during times of persecution.

The preferred modes of long distance transportation for the Amish are buses and trains, but a small percentage of them will travel overseas and fly.
