When, Where, Who, carried the U.S.A. National Ensign during a combat advance ON a STAFF during battle.?

I know some Soldiers carry a 'packed' flag in their kit. What war (battle) was the U. S. flag last actually advanced under fire on a staff by a soldier? Not, on or attached to a vehicle.

Probably the Spanish-American War. The National Colors whet forward several times, to include at San Juan and Kettle Hills.

Possibly later during the Punitive Expedition into Mexico, but I've never seen evidence of that.

    Found it!

"The colors of the 14th U.S. Infantry were carried in action during the Boxer Rebellion in China in 1900. In fact, they were planted on the walls of Beijing on 14 November 1900. The official reports of the 14th Infantry's operations can be read at 1-14th.com. This was nearly 20 years after the last documented case of British Army colours being carried in combat."
