Internet/cable question?
Alright, so I live in a cheap apartment where the manager wont allow internet, exept for things like the verizon jetpack, but I get free cable, can I buy a modem from walmart, and connect the cable line to it, and get internet that way.

No, except!
You cant just connect a cable modem to free cable.
However, you can get a cable Internet plan from the cable provider.
Each cable modem has a unique hardware MAC address. In order for the modem to work, you have to have a Internet plan with the cable provider and call them with the MAC address so they can activate the modem on the cable network.
No activation = No Internet
You might be able to pay the cable provider that provides the free cable for a add on Internet plan, but it would depend on the provider.
Depending on the number of tenants and their willingness you may also be able to get the landlord to provide free Internet along with the cable for a nominal increase in rent.
Good Luck...
