I am moving from NL to YK, and my shipping is covered. What should I buy here and ship?
I have heard I should bring laundry detergent, as it is quite expensive, and things like chia seeds and hemp hearts which are harder to get and also expensive, but what other things would be useful to buy here to cut my costs starting off?

ALL GROCERIES and similar items. These things are all shipped to the Yukon.you pay more for everything. Fresh items in particular. There are some creative community gardens that grow some things in Green houses. If you have a green thumb bring seeds for your favourite things and give it a try.
A n indoor window box for your fresh herbs is about all you can do at home.

BULK canned goods or dehydrated things. Many in the north depending on where they live shop ANNUALLY for a large purchase delivered by barge. These items last many months as in off season the local store has to charge more to have things delivered either by air for fresh things or lengthy truck delivery.
Look beyond the cost of one or two minor items. It is everything you buy day to day at the supermarket.
Try to picture yourself in your house and you cannot go outside for a month what would you like to have in the house to eat , drink, tools to have, clothes to wear and so on. Bring what you can. They will have either a volume limit so get concentrated whatever.Dehydrated this or that. They will also have a weight limit of some kind. Use you shipping container accordingly. EVERYTHING costs more. Are Chia seeds and Hemp hearts a major item in your diet and living needs or do you have a few other things you use everyday. Shipping flour to bake your own bread for example. A package of soup stock powder much savings over making a stock from fresh chicken bought in the store.
Bulk boxes of pasta and cans of tomato paste over a can of spaghetti ready made. Get the idea?
High prices for bulky air filled items like laundry powder Fresh fruit vegetables and ready made beverages.. Look at the entire shopping cart at the supermarket.
