Spin- O - rama likely outlawed in shootouts. thoughts?
I feel it's safe to say that we all love to see a good spin o rama, even though it may bend the rules a little bit (Turning the skates away from the goalie). It's hard to spin on skates, maintain control of the puck, and launch a perfect shot all in the same motion. I say, if you can pull it off, you can do it. But who am I to say what should and should not be legal? So that's why I'm posting this, I want to see your opinions on why and if this interesting concept is being banned.
BQ- how do you goalies feel about the spin o rama? Have you ever had one pulled on you? Did you stop it? Please share your thoughts and experiences, I'm really interested in the goalie opinions... Talking to you, TexHabs.
Viphockey4- THANK YOU! THANK. YOU. I hate the shootout myself, it's all dependent upon the goalie. I don't think 2 points should be decided through a skills competition. Why were ties so bad? I think if the teams can't get things squared away after an overtime or two, then both should lose and take a pity point for their efforts.
George- I say fighting is out next. Then checking will vanish, then poke checks will vanish, then maybe the scoreboard will vanish so there are no losers and everyone can feel good about themselves. Then we can just give every player a ring so they can feel like winners. While we're at it, let's just let everyone play in the NHL to fulfill their dream! Yay!!!

They should outlaw shootouts period. Why does a skills competition potentially change who may be in or out of the playoffs. If teams got 1 point for a tie in regulation and the ONLY way to earn a 2nd point would be to score in OT we would see more wide open risk taking play in the extra 5 minutes. You have nothing to lose, you get 1 point no matter what and if you need that other point then play like you need it in the extra time. Games and playoff spots shouldn't be decided by skills competitions, bring back the days when the extra point was earned playing hockey instead of teams playing the extra 5 passively hoping to get to the shootout.

Spin-o-Rama's should have been outlawed years ago because the puck clearly goes backwards most if not all of the time. Also shootouts are not played in the playoffs it is just continuous ot's until a goal is scored. I am a goalie and have stopped all of the spin-o-Rama's i have faced because I know it is coming when i see it and then i just poke it away.

Shootouts are entertaining but should not be part
of championship games.
Hold them after the game is decided
as an exhibition - anything goes.
Think Globetrotters or pro rasslin...
Scratched players allowed to participate...
Play 1 or more OTs but settle matters
in team play.

It's a move. It's always been a move. I don't think it should be outlawed. What's next? No dangles, toe drags, etc.?
