Anytime you use torrents you are taking a huge risk. Make sure to scan everything right away after downloading. Use Malwarebytes it's free and highly recommended!

Torrents are useful to sharing legal programs - the Linux crowd does this sometimes when something isn't in the usual download place (called a repository). They can also be set up privately to share large files within a family or organization. Six hours worth of wedding footage? Quickly distributed when using torrents.

However, torrent sites are rife with viruses in the torrent files. Illegal music, video, and software are "ideal" places to spread viruses. Which makes me prefer to suck it up and pay the dollar a song on Amazon - not worth the legal problems and headache. You can also score free music legally sometimes due to free album of the day deals on the legit sites. And free TV programming, music videos, and books - from legitimate sites.

If you want to play,You gotta pay. One way or the other. Torrents will infect your machine with some really nasty stuff. Don't play around with torrents with no or some free anti virus junk on your machine. If you do,You're asking for it. A good paid AV like Kaspersky or Bit Defender is what I would use. Either that, Or pay for whatever it is you want to try to get for free. Or, Pay some tech guy to fix your computer when it gets infected. Either way,You gonna pay. Sooner or later.

Get an account at http://cloudload.com/ all the files you download are saved to their cloud storage locker and are scanned for viruses. the files will never get to your computer if they have a virus.

Download speeds are also 50 times faster than normal torrenting...
