What is a good last name for a single mother?

I am writing a novel and my main character is a single mom with two young boys. Her name is Michelle, she is 39 and she is living in a small apartment in Seattle, WA. What should her last name be? Also, if you don't like the first name of Michelle or you have a better idea feel free to share. Thanks in advance!

    There are no names unique to single mothers.

    Give her a history and a backstory, and use that to select a last-name. Or open the phone book and pick one at random.
