Is Paula Deen a racist? Given that the woman grew up in the South in the Fifties?
The question asked her was about whether she had ever used the "n" word. I don't see how she could avoid it if she valued her teeth. I would liken it to adaptive camoflage.

You can do racist things but not be racist (If it makes sense to you) . She was more honest than she should have been.
I think it's racist and so does most of the black population. I don't take offense by the use of that word anymore because, it's just a word. It can't be helped so, why get my panties in a bunch over it? I'd be angry over a lost cause.
I know were that word comes from and why blacks started using it to refer to one another so that's why I think it's okay for other blacks to use it and racist for other races to use it. It's too long a story to tell but, you can look it up if you want.

She is not a racist. Blacks use the word all the time and such was the way of the south when she was growing up. Her honesty will be her undoing when it should be something to be proud of.

When you grew doesn't give you special privilege to be racist.
She is old enough and ""professional"" enough to know that word doesn't fly.
