Which Half Life Games to get?

Ok this is how it is. Half-Life 1 was made and it became the game of the year. And it had to. It was awesome! Then since it was so good, they made mods for it. The 2 most popular mods that were made by valve and other companys (Half-Life: Opposing Force & Blue Shift) were Half-life 1 but from other point of views. Then after that the source engine came and Half-Life 2 was built. But they didn't end the HL2 part there, so they made other HL games taht continued it.They were the HL2 episode 1 and 2. But they were really short. Now fans are waiting for the HL episode 3/ HL3 but it won't be made soon.

Now to say which ones to play:

You should really play HL1 if you don't care about graphics, but about storyline and gameplay. After that you should totally play Half-life Opposing Force and Blue Shitf.

Now we get to the HL2 games. I never really finished Half-Life 2 but I say it was good. The gameplay, storyline, graphics and... . Half-Life 2 episode 1 and 2 were the continuation of HL2/srotyline but they were shorter. So if you ask me, all of them are great!

I like HL1 more than the others. Because it had more weapons, more kinds of enemies and... . And it also has a lot of mods. Let me tell you: These days, Half-life 1 is used more as an engine to make games. There are hundreds of HL1 mods out there taht you can download. Some of them are good, some of them are bad, and some of them are awesome. Some of them were worked on so much, taht when you play them, you don't feel like you're playing HL1. Those are Cry of Fear and Afraid of Monsters: Directors cut. So I say get all of them, specially HL1.

You probably just want the main two games, as well as HL2: Episodes 1 and 2.

You might want to get Black Mesa though. It's a fan-made HD remake of the original game, however the final few levels have not been released yet. It's free too, which is nice.

I just prefer the original half life 2, ep 1, ep 2, those are my 3 favorite
