All of the major swimming strokes strengthen and rely on your core or abdominal muscles. But on our swim team we specifically use a few strokes that really help to develop abs. These are the freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly. The freestyle is the most efficient and it relies on your abdomen muscles which therefore help to develop your abs. If you really need to keep it to a 15 minute routine, devote 5 minutes to each. But I would recommend doing what we do on our swim team and devote 10 minutes to each for a total of 30 minutes.

Hello! 10-15 min seems a little short for a swimming routine. Treading is a great exercise for your abs. You keep your feet off the bottom of the pool and move your hands in a circular motion.

For cardio, I recommend doing S.K.I.P.S. Assuming you know how to do all four strokes. S means swim whatever you like! 5 laps sounds good. K means kicking. Get a diving board and just kick. I means IM which is doing all four strokes. I would do it once. P is pull which is just a workout for arms. So get a noodle. S is just swim whatever you like once again. Have fun!

Hi I am only 13 but here is a fantastic workout... great for all ages!

-It doesn't matter how big the pool is.

-Swim 1 lap, get out do 10 crunches.

-Swim back, get out do 9 crunches.

-Keep going until u get to 1 crunch.

-You may repeat as many times you want.

-Doing it just once takes about 15 mins.
