What do you think of Kyle Petty's comments about Danica Patrick?

On NASCAR Race Hub Kyle stated that "Danica has been the perfect example of somebody who can qualify better than what she runs. She can go fast, but she can’t race. I think she’s come a long way, but she’s still not a race car driver. And I don’t think she’s ever going to be a race car driver.” She won’t ever be, he said, “because I think it’s too late to learn.”

Do you agree?

I wouldn't say that Long would be doing better.

She hasn't shown any moments of outstanding talent as of yet.

What I would say, however, is that she is 10 years younger

than Patrick. It would be better to compare after she has completed

    10 more years of experience.

But to answer the question, directly... Kyle has it right.

Patrick has shown zero in Cup.

And, sure it's true, that there are plenty of guys not doing well either.

But they are for certain, in lesser rides

AND aren't carrying the massive hype.

I don't think anyone would talk much about Danica, if she didn't get

    the massive push/hype.

Which, btw, has calmed down considerably.

There is a reason for that... and Kyle hit it.

Kyle Petty seems to have some kind of fixation or maybe infatuation with her. His old man, The (so called) King, was strongly against Danica or any woman running in the Sprint Cup Series, his stupid A-- said that they would have an unfair weight advantage over male drivers. Normally, I'd say that Kyle Petty is full of B.S. and normally, I'd be right. This time I actually agree with him to an extent. Danica is definitely a marketing tool, and not a race car driver--yet. But to say that she's too old to learn to race is just jealousy on his part because she is worth more when she's sleeping then he ever was or will be even on the best day of his racing career. I would also bet that she would sell more albums in the first 5 minutes than he ever did if she decided to take up singing as a career too.

I can't see why The Hub wasted 3 segments on that idiot anyway. The way I see it, both Petty's need to just fade into the background.

He was right about something else that he said though. Inducting 5 people into the NASCAR Hall of Fame every year was too many. Now, it's going to be a while before any more really great NASCAR people can be inducted because so many of them are still active.

And for you Dan-It's the media, Kyle Petty included, that are pushing all this hype that you talk about.

    I agree with this 100%!

"because I think it's too late to learn."

I don't agree with this at all though. Danica is only 30, I think it has more to do with the fact that she just isn't that talented, I mean she has been in SHR and HMS(JR Motorsports) equipment (which is the best in the business), and still can't finish better than 25th-30th on a good day.

I love it that Kyle states what he really feels, rather than always running her in the ground like the rest of them do. I am not sure if, "it's too late to learn", but feel that she will not be as good as they

keep saying she will be. Put Johanna Long in her equipment and Danica in JL's and I think there would be a big difference in what they would all be saying.

Kyle did okay. He won 8 races.

Wasn't like Felix had 'awesome' equipment..

    I don't see Danica ever winning 8.

I don't see her driving 8 years, to be honest.

I think it's good that people are still allowed to express their freedom of speech. Society has become so pussified, that you can't say anything without hurting peoples feelings. You have a right to an opinion, and when people start lying just to protect other peoples feelings society is in a state of degeneration, which isn't cool. If people can't deal with a little dose of reality they need to stay in their bubble and keep their eyes closed and their mouth shut. I like to hear peoples opinions, and an opinion does not hurt my feelings, but broadens the spectrum of reality, if your able to sort out possible facts from lame emotions

Lets put it this way; If She was a He would she still have such a good ride with subpar finishes? No freakin way! She is a cash cow at the circus. Kyle knows this and said this but stated it a bit more polititcally correct.

    Good for him!

I don't think Kyle Petty should really be talking about any driver's lack of skills...

I think this shows how stupid Kyle Petty really is. Which is better, a driver that gets a car from their merits as an Indy driver, Or a driver whose father owns a race car and won't put them in it. I can say she can't race but I would also say that she is better than me. I'll admit that, why can't he.

He would be a poor driver to judge some one else's driving skills. He was filler material at best when he was driving and he could never learn how to drive.
