No. A PO box is not a residence and does not prove residency. A PO box is simply a mailing address. Other proof such as a rental agreement, utility bill in your name, etc will be required to prove residency.

defrauding the insurance company is not going to help you nor is false information to the dmv and you don't think they know the difference between a business address? and a home address? get real and with the po box you still have to have a real address under your name for the dmv. they will not let you live in a po box ok? do it the right way don't get the license if you dint have a car and you are not insured to drive any ones car what do you need a license for???? You cannot use a post office box to show where you are living, because you can't live in a post office box, and you can have a post office box somewhere that you don't live.

You can have the mail sent to the post office box, but you still have to tell the DMV where you are really living, even if you don't want any mail sent there.

BS - I called the NY Driver's License Office (I actually got a live person!) and they said a P.O. Box is O.K.
