If I start giving my 18-month-old Shiba Inu raw eggs, how long will it take to notice the difference in her coat?
A few days? Weeks? Months?

I would recommend though as bacteria might seep in. You can give fish oil instead but be careful too and be sure to consult with the vet first.

Some owners swear by eggs for coats, but I've never seen any difference, although most dogs love eggs and they are good for them, cooked or raw.
A dogs inherited genes have more to do with the quality of the coat than anything else, however feeding a high quality kibble will bring out the best, but nothing can improve a coat that isn't good to begin with.
Worms can affect the coat, internal disease can affect the coat, but nothing you feed a dog if this is the problem is going to help.
Don't overdo feeding eggs as you can affect the calcium/phosphorous ratio that makes good bone growth if you do.

There are two problems with giving your dog raw eggs. The first is the possibility of food poisoning from bacteria like Salmonella or E. coli. The second is that an enzyme in raw eggs interferes with the absorption of a particular B vitamin. This can cause skin problems as well as problems with your dog's coat if raw eggs are fed for a long time.
I suggest buying some salmon oil or flax seed oil and mixing that in with her food. You will notice a difference in her coat, but it may take a few weeks.

People that aren't educated enough on the raw diet shouldn't answer this question. Yes raw eggs have bacteria in them but this is a healthy bacteria that is esential and wonderful for your dog. Raw eggs along with other raw foods such as green tripe, raw meaty bones, and fish (make sure you source your fish at a high quality store) are the best foods you can feed your pets.
