If a wire of resistance R & length L is used to form another wire of length 2L without changing its volume,?

what is the resistance of the new wire?

    R = p L/A

    V = LA = (2L)(A/2)

    If the length is doubled while the volume is held constant, the cross sectional area must fall by half.

    R' = p (2L)/(A/2) = 4p L/A = 4R

    The resistance quadruples.
