What is the cheapest way to travel to Montreal from Toronto and back ? I intend to travel in August?

    VIA Rail has a seat sale on now. Tickets for Toronto-Montreal are available starting at $35 for travel until October 9.

    Short of hitch hiking, the cheapest mode of transport is by bus on the double-decker MegaBus: http://megabus.com/ If you book several weeks in advance, you can sometimes find fares as low as $1.

    Besides that, the train is a much more comfortable way to travel, and it can sometimes be cheaper if you find a seat sale: http://viarail.ca/

    SS1886, I usually drive, when I am out of the country, my wife catches the train at Dorval.
