RHH: What do you think of my top 100 rap album list I made?
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/DOGDOGDOGCATDOG/top_...
1. Which ones do you agree with
2. Which ones do you not
3. which ones grind your gears
4. which ones are surprising
5. Also anything I'm missing?
Also i realized from transferring the list to rym i missed an album somewhere and only had 99 so i included the DMG one last since it would have been an honorable mention. If i ever figure out what I forgot I will post that because it's grinding my gears
I've been listening to Illmatic since I started listening to rap and that sh*t gets stale after awhile. I'm not a 15 year old who just discovered rap last year so I don't think it's the end all be all of rap anymore just sayin
probably a lot longer than nas since I don't relate to anything he says on illmatic
lol you're an idiot it's on my top 100 i've heard a sh*t ton of albums just because I've heard it a million times and it got old doesn't mean I don't like it. Pls go to the nas forum on his website if all you're gonna do is dickride him I'm asking for opinions on the list as a whole not about illmatic not being my favorite album anymore
and i have 500 gb's of music that like 3/5ths are rap. that means nothing to me
im gonna have to post this again later i didn't know it was real hip hop head happy hour
i don't relate to a guy with a tech in his dresser living in queensbridge projects sippin dom p watching ghandi idk why that is so hard to understand. all that training you have and still can't spot an opinion different from yours. and to assume there is a "cognitive dissonance" because I don't relate to a black guy living in the projects is moronic. and it's funny that you mention bugging people on the internet when that was literally your only intent by posting what you did at first lol pls go ur opinion means nothing music master
@ Dope Boy: Criminal Minded & Paid In Full would be much higher 10 years ago but they sound so dated and overplayed to me now I can't justify putting them higher than recent albums I've liked. I've never really been into the whole NWA Dr Dre thing though, I'll probably have to relisten it's been so long since I've heard that sh*t.
@Mac Dre guy: GRODT would be the only album I would consider for a top 100 out of those tbh
I only heard beautiful raw one time so it's gonna take a few more listens to really say

What a world we live in today - where UGK has the best hip hop album of all time. OF ALL TIME!
Drop and give me 50 for even thinking that.

1. A good portion, love OB4CL.
2. A good portion [2] Super Tight by UGK was a surprise. I did not expect that. To me, that's always just been a solid release with nothing really special about it. No track really stands out on it. I admire the diversity on your list though, you seem very invested in some southern hip hop that you usually wouldn't see in most other people's list (like Super Tight for example).
3. Well, nothing really grinds my gears because I understand it's just a list of your favorites. I'm not going to argue what you like more than the next thing.
4. Super Tight like I said...just some of the ranking is a little off to me personally.
5. I saw you had Beats, Rhymes, and Life in there, so it's kind of unusual that you wouldn't have Midnight Marauders or The Low End Theory, which to me just a little more unique and sound more inspired. I don't know, if I saw Supreme Clientele in there, which is funny because it's usually considered Ghost's best album. Nor did I see Reasonable Doubt...

I just love people who say that if you don't hold a certain opinion, you are 'wrong'. No matter how 'classically trained' you are, or how many gigabytes of music you have, or how highly you regard your own opinions, there is no correct view on music, movies and books.
1. Plenty of them, but particularly Dr Ocagon, XXX I thought was great, Cold Vein, Madvillainy, and although I think it's a little bit too high, I love the Roc Marciano stuff too.
2. I prefer Ridin Dirty to Super Tight (it's still good though). I also thought that Illmatic was a lot better than The Renaissance in pretty much every way, but again, different opinions are good.
3. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing... If it's bad, none of them really.
4. Gasoline Rainbows surprises me. I've never heard it though. I also didn't know that you liked Qwel and Maker.
5. MMLP?
Have you heard the new Qwel and Maker? If so, what did you think?
Fair enough.

I stopped after Illmatic was sixty. I don't care to know the opinions of anyone that doesn't put that top five.
"I'm not a 15 year old who just discovered rap last year so I don't think it's the end all be all of rap anymore just sayin"
Neither am I.
In fact, I own around 225 gigs of music, about 1/3rd of which is hip-hop, and that's just stuff I've bothered to convert to digital format.
And that album is still top fifteen ever, and top 2 in hip-hop. Singular songs are better than entire catalogues. I mean The World is Yours... is arguably the most influential piece of hip-hop ever made. Everyone took inspiration from that song, every single rapper afterward has adopted the mindset Nas invented on that song. There are only a handful of artists, like Mingus, Davis, Parker, Lennon and McCartney, et. al., that have done so much in singular moments for their respective forms of music. The idea that only fifteen year olds hold the record in high esteem is absurd.
Yeah, I can engage in a pissing contest with you all day, and I'd win (the simple fact that your retort to the fact that Nas literally changed the game, was to insult a person you've never actually met -would I be an idiot if I said I had a decade of classical musical training, and historic study behind my opinion- says all I need to know) but the idea that you listened to it so much it got stale, but somehow you never related to a single thing he said is the sort of cognitive dissonance I'd expect from someone who just gets off on bugging people meaninglessly on the internet.
So Imma ghost...

This is one of the most interesting top 100 lists Iv ever read I found it interesting to have Illmatic and All Eyez On Me in the middle and Below Pluto! I wouldn't even consider putting Future on mine but then again it is opinion based. I loved the inclusion of Dice Game since that is definitely one of the GOAT albums and one of my personal favs. I also found it interesting to see a lot of Three 6 Mafia and their affiliates. Overall it was a very good and most likely well thought out list. Props

Props for creativity Mad, obviously everyone will have some critiques but its your list
Only thing Im gunna say, is Illmatic @ 60? C'mon son, influence alone should make it higher than that
- 8 years ago
A lot of Southern hip hop... I don't agree with much of it, but it certainly is an interesting list. Glad to see someone else likes American Gangster as much as I do. Also I added you on RYM. Plz accept or you'll hurt my feelings.

I haven't even listen to 100 albums

Crazy list. Some good ones but some were like wtf... like Future's Pluto at 20-something... or XXX sitting at #9. #60-62 were awesome.
Major props to you for having Mystic Stylez in your top ten. That is also in my top 10. most underrated dope album. also for UGK.
its obviously a biased list. Mellowhype album? lol. a lot of underground albums. u didnt think Carter 3 or Chronic or Ready to Die or GRODT deserved to be on the list? i get that underground is cool. but u missed some key albums.

Illmatic only 60th? And drake's and future's albums are better? Are you high on some sh*t? Wake up bro!
Edit: i wonder how long you'll bump drake until it gets "stale"
