Do the FBI have forensic investigators?

So I have decided that I want to go into forensic investigations and was woundering if the FBI had this position and what requirements are needed to get in?

    Yes, they do. If you go to their website (www.fbi.gov), you will find links to career information. They have a lot of it.

    Typically, their forensic scientists work mostly in the lab and don't often do field investigation work, and much of it is to support local law enforcement in addition to agency cases.

    Yes some of the best in the country. Have you thought of checking the FBI web site for this info? If not, that is your first failure as a forensic investigator.
