When i am in a foreign website, why are the words in a Square shaped?

I am trying to learn Japaneses, but the symbols are ア in squares, how can i change it on my computer so i can see the actual symbol or letters from a different language?

    First of all if you want to use Japanese text you should have Japanese fonts installed at least. If you already got it you can change encoding according to the language of the particular site such as

    Firefox View/Character Encoding make changes and see if that works.

    MS Internet Explorer View/ Encode make changes and see if that works.

    You have to make settings in Encoding OK?

    i think u deleted some fonts from ur computer.search yahoo if there is an option to install japanese font on ur pc

    I think that's because your system don't use japanese fonts. Enable japanese fonts and encoding.

    Because of the script. just update your windows to windows 8 or something like that so you won't see boxes anymore.
