It's official. Cotto is gonna train with Freddy Roach.?

Do you think this is good for Cotto? Or has he gone to the point where there is no way to help him?

terrible news. I love cotto but the last thing he needs is more punishment. at roach's gym he's going to be doing nothing but all out sparring all the time and getting in gym wars. that might be beneficial to a young fighter (although not in my opinion) but for a guy like cotto who has had a long career and taken a few beatings along the way, he does not need to be with a guy like roach who will have him taking more punishment.

I suspect cotto will maybe fight once more and then retire. and I hope so too. he's a legend to me who has nothing more to prove.

I like Cotto... But I would ask the question: Does he still have the desire to box?

He has a long road to another title shot - Does he need have that work commitment anymore?

Train with Freddy Roach? - Roach is living on his reputation, most of his star pupils have either left or been beaten... The wild card gym is yesterdays news.

I suspect Cotto will fight a few choice money making fights, then ride off into the sunset.

This is good for Cotto Roach is a great trainer. Just having a bad luck run Khan has no chin and thats why he left. Pacquiao got hit by a well timed punch. Chavez Jr just got outmatched and out worked by Martinez.

Cotto on the other hand depends on what he brings to the ring on fight night. He is getting up there in age and lost a couple fights in a row. If he will listen to Roach and not do his own thing he has a good chance of winning a few fights before he retires.

This is a reach for Cotto who is trying to sell hes comeback. Roach is NOT a good fit for Cotto who acts like a diva at times. Plus Roach has been slowing down a lot.

Of course, Freddie could help Cotto get through some decent opponents. But at this point in his career, Cotto's been diminished and possibly damaged by long and tough mileage and wear and tear. He might not get to the elite level again.

Cotto is wasting his money, b/c obviously Roach is expensive.

What will Roach do for him? I'm not hating on Roach (well, kind of), but he's an all offense trainer and doesn't have the smart boxers mind. Listen to him in the corner during serious situations, his advice sucks.

I don't get it, but maybe they have trained together a couple of times and mesh well or something.

Cotto needs a guy like Nazim Richardson, or the guy who trains Kid Chocolate and Paulie Malignaggi. Both are very good in the corner and always give great advice, unlike Roach.

If you can't beat him, join him. Cotto won't be helped so much by Roach as he will by opponents like Delvin Rodriguez...especially at 154. Opponent selection will extend his career.

I hope Freddy can resuscitate Cotto's flagging career. I also hope it is not yet too late for both to make another run at boxing glory. Good luck to both of them and their fans.

both needs each other to save their sinking ship...

would they be able to do it? that's the question...

...i think they match each other, roach is good w/ punchers & cotto is a puncher/boxer

    i hope they succeed
