Military Personnel, have you heard or thought about this?
If Homosexual marriage is legalized, would you consider marrying your ' battle buddy" for the extras it would give you?
You would both be able to pull BAQ, BAS and live off base.
You could still date and screw around with whoever you want, and you couldn't be trapped into getting married, because you already are.
you would be reassigned together so if one of you gets a good assignment, your best friend would go with
you
You could get on base housing
it just seems like a good way to get about $500.00 a month each
I estimated way low, a google search shows that an E-4 stationed at Ft. Campbell would earn about 1200 a month extra......

I wouldn't marry my "battle buddy" for an extra $500, or any other incentives.

It's not going to happen and here is why. A keen eye will be kept on any gay married couple, just because it is new and no one wants any problems. All it will take is for someone to spot Soldier A and Soldier B, who are supposed to be married, out at the club with members of the opposite sex. Phone calls will be made, emails sent, and an investigation will be initiated. At the least, Soldiers could be punished under UCMJ for adultery, or an investigating officer will determine these people defrauded the government. Any benefits made will be paid back, maybe with some jail time, after that decision comes down.
A lot of Soldiers think they become invisible once they don civilian apparel and leave the gates, but that just isn't realistic by any means, especially in Army towns.

Well, since contract marriages are quite strictly not allowed, Commanders will be obligated to look into anything that seems a bit off. If a Soldier who has never showed any inclination that they are gay were to marry someone of the same sex, red flags would go up. Conversely, a completely open and out Soldier marrying someone of the opposite sex would raise flags. If Commanders know their Soldiers (as they should), then this kind of ruse wouldn't work well at all.

Sounds like you have a winner of an idea. You should be one of the first to try it out.
Given the new America that we are living in, we should be open to some of the new possibilities.
Being married has all sorts of legal ramifications. The spouses have a hold on money and property, etc.
Good luck on your new way of life & extra bucks.
BTW, is CONSUMMATION required to have a valid same-sex marriage in the military?

We've actually already talked about this in some of our circles. The answer is some enterprising SN Timmy/PVT2 Joe/LCpl Schmuckatelli/(whatever the USAF equivalent is) will do it. Probably a lot of some enterprising characters, but not as many as we worry about. Nothing we can do about it.

If gays marry for the housing, they won't be the only ones doing it....Everybody does it
