Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn?

I'm not sure if I should get it or not. I like the fact that it's an MMORPG and that it's only $40 on the PS3 instead of $60, but I'd like someone's opinion of how good of a game it is who's played the beta they have for it. I just don't want to buy it and have it be like it was when they released it a few years back. I'd preferably like someone to give me their opinion on it who has been a beta tester, but anyone can answer. Thanks to everyone!

I played the original launch.....and fell asleep during gameplay. I'm sure you remember this from the original launch...

auto-attack....auto-attack....auto-attack....auto-attack....yes! enough TP to use ONE skill! Power Thrust! auto-attack....auto-attack....auto-attack...auto-attack...yes! TP move time! auto-attack...crap it's dead.

So, to make this spear I need a shaft created by a woodcrafter (forgot names), bone from a bonecrafter, and string from a clothcrafter. Well, I can't craft 2/3 of those so I'll just buy them and asemble it. No auction house? Hmm...it's ok, I'll just search this sea of hundreds of player bazaars one by one by one...hoping that the next bazaar will have the item I need. Wait, I can't craft the spear? I'm missing another item? What is it? Crap...google...google...goole...in-game shout "Anyone know what materials are needed to craft this?" /sigh

I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and I REALLY wanted to see the storyline with the new graphics and all that, but I could not stay awake and cancelled my account.

Luckily my g/f felt like giving it a second try later down the line and I reactived it. She only played for like 2-3 weeks before she stopped. We forgot to cancel the subscription for 2 months so I got pinged as a LEGACY player meaning.....instant beta for A Realm Reborn.

They fixed these two thorns I had with the original launch.

    1) If you ever played Final Fantasy XI (like I did for 5-6 years) the combat has been return to the same format. You can use ALL of your skills instantly!!! No more waiting for auto-attacks. Some of your skills will have cooldowns of course, but the fighting is no longer a drag. I only played the beta up to level 15. That's all I needed to know. I didn't want to have to repeat everything come launch. It felt a little too easy though....but then again it is the beginning levels.

    2) There's an Auction House again! That's all that needs to be said, right? Plus, from what I saw, when crafting, you get a crafting window to choose what you want to craft. As you crafting skill reach the next "skill level" the new items auto-appear in the window and tell you what items you need to craft it. Thank GOD! Though, I am not sure if there are "hidden" items you need to figure out on your own before they appear in your crafting window.

My last, and not unexpected with Final Fantasy, beef with the game is that there is no PvP.

But, all-in-all, my g/f and I are ready to play the game come launch. I'm just log into SWTOR for my PvP cravings.

Another thing I am sad about is that I did NOT get to LIVE through the storyline of the original launch. I like playing games from start-to-end, ya know?
