    sin i/sin r= refractive index. We know i 30 degrees and horizontal will be at 90 degrees. sin r =1

    Now write the equation

    sin 30 = 1 * ( 1.5- 0.25 y)

    Solve for y

    y = (1.5 - sin30)/0,25= 4(1.5-sin30)

    Solve it you will get the answer.
