Excel Grouping functions?

Using Excel 'Group', how can I group rows under the (column) heading Level?

Column has levels going from 1 - 5. Fist level 1 may have levels 2, 3,

Next 1 will have 2,3,4,5 etc.

I want to be able to have it collapsed by Level 1,

Then click expand and see ea. 2 under its level 1, etc.

I've seen in done before but lost my example sheet.

Update:

No not a pivot table, I can't use it for this but just in case :) I can only past a few columns too.

Thanks for responding either way

Level Item # Item Cat Component Part Rev

  1 0001  L 722581-001 A1

   2 0001  L 722581-002 A1

    3 0001  L 722581-003

    3 0002  L 722581-004

    3 0003  L 722581-005

I have to mention, even though I very carefully tired to put this in order, it get skewed after you hit post.. ~meh~

You are talking about a pivot table, but I do not have enough information to explain what you are wanting to do here.

Can you give me you first four or five rows of data?
