How does the World of Color Showpasses work?

So im going to Disneyland next week and of course I can't miss World of Color. Ive been hearing that to watch the show you need showpasses that can be acquired in front of Grizzly river run. So how do these passes work. Can you choose which show time you want to watch. Or the place to watch. How does this work. Or is it even true?

It is true: Fast Passes for World of Color are distributed at Grizzly River Run.

You cannot choose what show you watch or what section you will be in. Fast Passes are all distributed first-come first-served. If you want to see the early show, you should get your Fast Pass shortly after park opening. If you're lucky, I've heard that Blue section offers the best views, but regardless when you arrive for the show you will want to be near a railing for an unobstructed view.

Once Fast Passes for the first show are gone, Fast Passes for the second show are distributed until they are gone.

If a particular showtime is important to you, I'd suggest a World of Color dining package which guarantees you reserved seating.

    It's true.

You go get a pass, and whatever you get, that's what you're stuck with. They start with the first show, best viewing area (blue). Then they distribute the next best viewing area, then the next. Once the first show is full, they start over again with the second show. When you get your pass, it tells you which show you got, and which section. When you go to Paradise Lake before the show, you'll see colored globe lights. If you're in blue section, you line up by the blue entrance, which is roped off. Show them your passes, and you go in at the allotted time. Further questions can be directed to a cast member.
