Why would my check engine light come on after replacing a battery?
My 2000 Toyota Camry XLE was struggling to start up and its check engine light came on. I figured it was the battery and replaced it, which resolved the start up issue and the light went off. BUT - it came back on the next day.

Sometimes disconnecting the battery will cause that, especially on newer vehicles....many newer vehicles store the info in the computer as to when it was last reset, and when a scheduled maintenance mileage interval comes up, the check engine light will come on. Disconnecting the battery can possibly erase that memory from the computer.
If you have the owner's manual, look up "Check Engine Light" (or "Maintenance Required Light").....it should tell you how to reset it.

Many auto parts stores like AutoZone, O'Reiley's probably Pep Boys will hook your car up to the little diagnostic machine to tell you what error code is being generated. AutoZone does it for you. Others will just let you borrow the machine.
It's a cheap and easy way to get an idea of check engine / service engine soon problems.
