They are just narcissistic, elitist, spoiled brats.
What they are claiming is the ability to sue you over a username which is absurd. Usernames are fair game and its not in direct violation of copyright law to have a name of a product or a celebrity (unless of course you use it for profit, to slander said company or person, or use it to impersonate, as a false identity).
A username itself though is not automatic copyright by any means. I have the right to make my username [firstname]MoonLust on IMVU or any site just as I can make my username [random show character 567]
What they are doing is the equivalent of Britney Spears suing anyone not from her personal family, with the same last name Spears from using their name for a website, so any future relatives to the "official Spears family" (no matter what their first names are) have a unique user name.
Nowadays the policy for cites like Youtube, FaceBook, or Twitter etc. if a celeb wants a username or even the domain name of a site but it's been taken already they have to try to buy it.
Even if they do have the type of money to sue, even if they do somehow have copyright on MoonLusts because of celeb status or whatever the fact that you put Dwayne in your name makes any claim they make invalid. If they really want your name and all rights to any username with MoonLusts in it they are gonna have to try and buy it off you by making a deal with you and IMVU inc.

Ahahahaha! NO! Lol they dont own that name. They were just trying to scare you. Its a game. IMVU could take that name and copyright it so this user who talked to you wouldnt even be able to use it. Read up on the law and copyright stuff. I played the game to and someone tried the same thing with me.

There is no actual law in virtual reality. The worst that can happen is that the sponsors of the game site black list you for breaking site rules. Nobody has a legal right to any role playing name, it is not subject to either copyright or trade mark, and if they tried to bring a case in court, where would they file it? At present, no court of US law has any jurisdiction over the virtual behavior of on-line game players.
It is bad form to use another's avatar or game-name. They have every right to be upset. Shame on you. Apologize and pick another name, one of your own devising, that is not similar to theirs.

what people fail to realize is this is the generation of technology not 1990, if someone has trademarked their name on a game and owns copyrights to it which they do because their profile has a date stamp showing when they chose that name then yes they can sue.
