Was last night's HP umpire at Wrigley Field the most arrogant SOB of all time?
Matt Adams of the Cardinals griped about a borderline pitch that the umpire called strike three on as he was walking back to the dugout. The HP umpire proceeds to take his mask off and "shoe" him away. Mike Matheny yells from the dugout to protect his player.
But that is not all...
At the end of the game Matheny argues with the HP umpire about the situation. This guy then proceeds to "eject" Matheny after the game is over! I will give credit for the heavy umpire that intervened between Matheny and the HP umpire he was very diplomatic. He even waived the HP umpire to get off the field which was poetic justice in my book.
Ollie I thought Matheny was arguing the catch at first as well but I watched Matheny's post game interview. And for those of you who think I am just bitter about the Cardinals losing - most of my contacts can attest that I have been critical of Matheny's decision making.
Lonesome - I would have thought so too but it was not Angel. Good guess though!

Just another example of Umpires who think they're invincible & can do whatever they want without reprimand or punishment.

Arguing balls and strikes is grounds for an ejection, BY RULE! Do it after the game, and you end up with a post-game ejection.
That may not seem to make sense, but the umpire's responsibility does not end with the last out. It ends when the umpires leave the field, BY RULE.
I'm an umpire. I suspect you could tell. I don't think I'm arrogant, nor have I come close to ejecting anyone.
While I'm generally on the umpire's side, since I've been in their shoes, I WILL criticize umpires when the deserve it.
I have an idea. How about you read the rule book and give umpiring a try? Youth leagues everywhere need umpires. Because if you do, THEN maybe you would be justified in criticizing an umpire.

Uh, NO to your question about arrogant SOB,s
When are you "WHINERS' ever going learn?
JUDGEMENT CALLS ARE NOT TO BE QUESTIONED!!
Anyone, player, manager, or coach can be expelled by the Umpire for leaving the dugout or their coaching boxes or any place that they are supposed to be, in order to argue balls and strikes.

Maybe. Was it Angel Hernandez? Then the answer is an emphatic, "yes"!
