My guinea pig had trouble breathing, went blue and started having spasms?
She's at the vet now and he's given her medication and she's picked up a bit but he's not sure what its from, any guesses??
He said her lungs sound very harsh too :( my poor baby

the problem with guinea pigs is, they tend to not care too much about their hygene, and the ammonia from their cages can very easily mess with their weak lungs.. their also sensitive to cold and hot temperatures.. and dehydration..
so it could be a lung infection or just vapors.. or maybe its just actually cold.
be sure to have a cool but not cold room, and put a wrap around the cage at night, and keep it clean of course with fresh litter. and lots of vitamines for the little guy.. carrots and fresh vegies they love to chomp on.
Source(s): have had several guinea pigs (they also LOVE a cardboard shoebox with a hole cut in the side as a house in their cage to hide in, makes them feel comfortable to cover up)
