Fastest way to staten island on a thursday afternoon around 4 PM?
unfortunately i have to travel to NY at a bad time, and I know that traffic will be inevitable at this time. What is the best way to get to staten island from Worcester, Ma (coming down I-84) at this time. Should I go through jersey or queens to verazzano bridge? Which way will be fastest?

Probably via I-684 to I-287 and over the Tappen Zee bridge into NJ, and then down the Garden State to I-287 which becomes 440 and goes via the Outerbridge Crossing into southern Staten Island.
It will be busy, but at least you'll avoid the city and the George Washington Bridge.

I agree with Don.
You'd be far better avoiding the other NYC boroughs and going around the city. Go through NJ and then take either the Goethals Bridge or the Outerbridge into Staten Island, depending where in Staten Island you wish to go.
EDIT: Everyone clearly agrees with going through NJ. But I just wanted to point out that one CAN go through Queens without going through Manhattan. There are several ways to do this - via the Triborough Bridge or the Whitestone, for example.
But both of those ways would NOT be better at this time of day. DO go through NJ.

You should go through New Jersey, and you would not use the Verrazano Bridge. As others have said, take the Outerbridge Crossing or the Goethals. It will be bad, but you will be heading toward the city at a time when most people will be heading away from it, so that might help a bit. And, btw, the Verrazano Bridge connects Staten Island with Brooklyn, not Queens, and you'd have to go through Manhattan to get to Brooklyn to take the Verrazano to Staten Island--that would be a nightmare at that time.

i've got in no way been the type to respond to those styles of questions, yet right here it is going. i grow to be born and raised on Staten Island. as with each and every stereotype, there are different exceptions to the regulations. Staten Island is the 5th borough of ny city, extra desirable in area than ny by making use of four situations with a small inhabitants totaling over 600,000. whilst a large number of the island could be considered "suburbia", that's, in spite of the undeniable fact that, area of the city. The adverse stereotype you all have reported grow to be groomed interior the South Shore area, the place, and PLEASE be conscious this, after the Verazzano bridge grow to be built, BROOKLYNITES chosen to migrate by way of fact there grow to be sparkling air. earlier then, the island grow to be very such as a small city with an exceptionally communal atmosphere. My family individuals has lived on the island in view that 1698. however i'm generally the 1st to whinge approximately it and have in view that moved to London, England so as that i ought to pursue a extra international training in my college years, it breaks my coronary heart to take heed to such brush aside for my abode. i'm no longer likely to lie. often, the stereotypes look actual. in spite of the undeniable fact that this is the misperception that we are all like that that permeates and perpetuates a observed actuality. -Staten Island is likewise admired for having the rustic's sole TIbetan museum and monastary. -The national Lighthouse museum is likewise placed there. -Donald Trump's father made a large number of his fortune on the island. -Anna Leonowans (of The King and that i) settled on the island and based a college there. -Longfellow's Ichabob Crane retired to and is buried on Staten Island. -interior the Princeton assessment’s terrific 357 colleges 2005, Wagner college’s campus is ranked the "maximum alluring" interior the rustic. -The St. Joseph Hill Academy campus grow to be designed by making use of an identical guy who designed critical Park. - Italian liberator Giuseppe Garibaldi resided on Staten Island following his exile from Italy. -Staten Island grow to be the final British stronghold of the well-liked conflict, even after the conflict have been declared over. there is plenty historic past in this swampy patch of green. in basic terms people who're UNINFORMED and ignorant might trash (no pun meant) a place with out having first researched and experienced its riches to boot as its detriments. thank you.
